But what if arr intends to use the song on entirity or the tune elsewhere ? That's another way to look at it ... That might be to his benefit ....

I agree Gomzy, but still... whats the point if some fantastic compositions are lying unused in a computer. Asha Bhonsle's song didnt make it to the album. Ja Re Ud Ja Re also. Even Maniratnam's previous film Guru faced same thing. A song originally picturised on Aishwarya riding a bicycle didnt make it to the album, because it had to be deleted in the film. Luckily Shaukh Hai made it to mp3 cd compilations, else we wouldnt have got that too.

If they were included in the CD but not in the film, we would be disappointed that the songs were wasted by Mani. Either ways we complain.

Those songs were meant for the Hindi version too, but ARR said in a latest interview that the songs would have complicated the narrative of the film, hence shelved. I feel they should have released the songs on CD even if the songs were not filmed. Never going to happen, unfortunately.
