“It is always a pleasure to work with Mani sir. There are very few people
who give joy when you see a movie and he is one of them. His work is
historic in nature and I’m glad that I’m a part of the film. I have thought
and worked on the music for at least two years. I have experimented with
African sounds by bringing in vocals from the continent. Mani sir has always
taken the best out of me and I had the opportunity to showcase my talent on
the best platform,” Rahman tells *DNA*.

The composer adds, “It is a very exciting film for me like all Mani Ratnam
movies. I like his movies because it always has a broad scope for
experiments. I have tried to do my best and I hope by God’s will, people
will like the music. Music is a key element in every movie. If one has a
good soundtrack, the film too becomes popular. I have tried to make good
music and I consider myself lucky that people say my music is memorable.”

Rahman, who is also doing his world tour, says he is loving the excitement
of stage shows. “I love the stage because you can connect to people
instantly. You know if they are liking or disliking what you are performing.
The room for error is zero. I love the energy I feel during live
performance. It really inspires me. As a musician, I’m a performer and my
job is to entertain and there’s no greater high than seeing the audience
enjoying the music you create,” he ends.
