I agree with you on Delhi6. The first time I watched it, I actually found it to be distasteful myself. In fact, I even wrote about this in our ARR group some time back (when the film was released). Nevertheless, a fellow member replied to my post and commented that Delhi6 is indeed a wonderful film. I completely ignored his remarks back then, but a few months ago, I caught this film at a friend's place and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was something beautiful about how the characters were developed and woven to fit with the film. Each character was given its own identity and none of them seem out of place. Perhaps they should have concentrate on Abhishek's accent though. For someone born and bred in US, his accent does sound fake to the ears.
Otherwise, I couldn't seem to find much flaws with this film. Probably I had high expectations on this film, or probably I was taken by surprise with the end product...I'm not sure what went wrong with the first time around, but I love this film now and ARR's music has not only complemented the film all the way, it gave an additional life to it. On the other hand, why are all these ill feelings towards IIFA all of a sudden? Just because ARR was not awarded, and just because we feel a less-deserved musician won it instead, does it mean that IIFA should be condemned in totality? Since it's debut in 2000, IIFA has awarded ARR six times and that's a record that we as ARR fan should be proud of. Just because the award was given to another person this year, that doesn't mean ARR 's work was not recognised, nor do I feel IIFA should be condemned for it. Take it easy guys, if it's not this year, then it would be awarded to ARR next year. All is not lost with this award. --- On Tue, 6/8/10, Triply R. <[email protected]> wrote: From: Triply R. <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [arr] Re: ARR lost IIFA to Pritam To: [email protected] Date: Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 1:46 AM Regarding Delhi 6, it may have been the first movie in a long time that I really wanted to leave the theatre before the movie was over. I was so disappointed with the way the movie had shaped up, especially after Rang De Basanthi. However, I did watch it a second time and was able to accept it as a collection of incidents. The central theme of the movie is probably spelt out by the Noor song and Kaala Bandhar. The movie is flawed without a doubt, but it does have it's merits when viewed on it's own. The USP is, however, the amazing soundtrack by Rahman. It's a modern masterpiece. I have not heard Love Aaj Kal, so I have no idea how the songs are and cannot judge it vis-a-vis Delhi 6.However, we can't realistically expect Rahman to win every award every year, even though he very well would deserve them! --- On Mon, 6/7/10, Gomzy™ <gomtesh.upadhye@ gmail.com> wrote: From: Gomzy™ <gomtesh.upadhye@ gmail.com> Subject: Re: [arr] Re: ARR lost IIFA to Pritam To: arrahmanfans@ yahoogroups. com Date: Monday, June 7, 2010, 6:55 PM Love Aaj Kal would have certainly got more votes considering it struck well with the younger audience what with the movie also helping its sales. Delhi 6 the movie, lets not even get into that. I have also posted the link to vote ARR in this forum. May be many were not keen this time like last 2-3 years in voting ARR. But still I have no offense with this group it's their choice and I heartily congratulate Pritam for winning this award. --- On Mon, 7/6/10, Rivjot <riv...@yahoo. com> wrote: From: Rivjot <riv...@yahoo. com> Subject: [arr] Re: ARR lost IIFA to Pritam To: arrahmanfans@ yahoogroups. com Date: Monday, 7 June, 2010, 5:24 AM Nope, thats not correct! ARR didnt attend because of Jai Ho concerts, not because of Tamil protests. IIFA has given awards to some weird nominations this time (not only in Music categories), perhaps it was different jury this time. Hoping to have better results next year onwards. Nevertheless, congratulations to Pritam! --- In arrahmanfans@ yahoogroups. com, jose antony <jamsmiles10@ ...> wrote: > > i think they purposely avoided him because of not attending iifa due to tamil > protests...what say guys?? > > > > > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > From: Lavanya <lazykid...@. ..> > To: arrahmanfans@ yahoogroups. com > Sent: Sun, 6 June, 2010 10:21:00 PM > Subject: [arr] Re: ARR lost IIFA to Pritam > > > WHAT??!!!... this is PREPOSTEROUS! !....just like star screen awards the IIFA > has also gone to the dogs!....i got sick and tired and irritated by listening > to LAK songs...but u can still listen to D6 songs on non-stop loop and stil > not get bored or "sick and tired and irritated" with them.... > > any way...all that matters that Rahman sir got all the big awards for his > work and his work in D6 has been appreciated by the people..! > > Take it easy..better luck next time to the IIFA ppl in getting their brains > in the right place :P ..and congrats to Pritam for getting his dream > fulfilled... that is...winning an award when competing against Rahman sir! :) > > --- In arrahmanfans@ yahoogroups. com, "Sriram Iyer" <sriramiyer15@> wrote: > > > > If you'd take a look at the winner in the other categories, you'd realise > > how ridiculous the whole thing was.
