Hi Alvaro,

I have done this before...

Hide field 7 and make a new Status field.  Make it a character field
with a menu and set it to display type of 'Drop down list'.  Make a
table with 2 fields to hold entries for allowed State transitions and
point the menu to it, ie. 1 field is 'current status' and the other
field is 'allowable status', where the menu shows values where 'current
status' = $7$... That was you can have 0 to many possible values in the
menu based on the current status.  Then have a filter fire to set field
'7' to the value in the new menu Status field.

That should get you what you want.  Hope it helps.

Just wondering, is it possible to display in a drop-down menu only the
status another status can change to?
If you have defined 10 status but for example from "new" you can only
change to "assigned", is it possible if the actual status is "new" to
display only the "assigned" status?

Hi,

We have a form called State Transitions that say if it is valid or
invalid for a ticket to move from one status to another. We then have an
active link that runs on our Helpdesk form that checks the validity. We
only allow experts to change a ticket to resolved, but not to closed. We
have escalation that changes a ticket to a status of closed.

Its is one form and one Active link if you would like me to send it to
you.

We are running ARS 6.3, MidTier 6.3, We have a homegrown Helpdesk form,
but we are told it is very similar to Remedy's Helpdesk.

ability to change the Status from New/Assigned/WIP directly to Status of
