Ah...

Check this out... I found this just the other day...

In the admin tool help..
section: "Using the Remedy Administrator command line interface"
Toward the bottom you will find the following "aside" note...

"
Note: You cannot export server objects that include a percent sign
(%) in their name.
"

Now if that was "by design".... then why can you create or set an ARS
object name to include a stupid "%" in the first place? But I start to
rant....

Anyway...

I am 99% (get the pun?) sure that you know your problem. :)

Yes you can toggle the Server setting and not lose a thing as far as
the ARS objects and their relationships to the SC system. I would
simply set it to "optional" then do a rename on those objects then set
the setting back to "required".

and then Turn it back on and still maintain the database that was created
prior.

Pam,

I have three guesses for you.

1) These objects have a strange special character in the name that the
SC system does not like.

2) These objects have names that exist in other ARS name spaces but
the SC system is not treating them as separate name spaces.

3) The SC system is "out to lunch" and needs some SC admin attention.

You could try to ...

Export the object in question.
Launch the SC client directly.
Add the object to SC via it's client.
And maybe get a better error message.
