Its kind of like when Jesse James bought a header for a car engine and the header didn't fit. He spent more time trying to make it fit than it would have took him to build the thing. In frustration he threw it across the room and built his own. That is how I describe the ITSM suite. You can waste more time, money and energy trying to make something fit that doesn't rather than building exactly what you are looking for. Buying is more expensive and harder to maintain. Building is good if you get a guy that knows databases real well and knows what they are doing. Building is also cheaper. You could almost pay someone's salary for what you are paying in ITSM support costs.
In my opinion buy only if it meets 95% of your requirements. Otherwise don't bother. Especially don't buy if you do something as drastic as have 4 levels of categorization or change the Status menu. Just my .02 cents. Thanks, Sean _______________________________________________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at http://www.wwrug.org
