** Jason,

You would be fine adding the field in the AST join form from the admin tool. That's excactly how i've learned it on the CMDB training. Too bad you did not follow training, I guess it would have saved you a lot of time you now have spent on 're-engineering' the system.

** Hi all,

I have CMDB 1.1 and ITSM 6 with Asset Management. I haven't had a chance to go to CMDB training yet so I am learning as I go. Since asset management sits on top of the CMDB are there any issues or gotchas modifying the AST forms directly?

For instance I added a new attribute to the Computer System class (Char field) using the class manager (not bad, the only custom data field we needed from AM 4). Now I need the new field to show up on AST:ComputerSystem.

Since it is an AM form can I just add it to the AST join form in the admin tool without any problems?

Is there any metadata that goes along with the AM module or just CMDB?

Is making changes to the AST forms and workflow just like modifying a join form and workflow in the good old days?

Deleting the AST form and using the CMDB2Asset utility to recreate it just doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. As far as I have see so far the AM module is just added functionality to the CMDB but does not affect the CMDB itself (other then the data being stored in the CMDB).

Thanks,
Jason
