Mike, I am trying to setup something similar but from LDAP instead of AD.
Question: How many people do you have ? Are you trying to import all of them at the same time or did you have to break it up ? Are you going to sync them on a daily basis and also bring in newly created people ? We are looking at 50,000+ employees to bring in from LDAP. Sorry I don't have answer and only more questins.
