I am not a SQL DBA; don't play one on
TV.
We are running 6.3 (no CMDB) with Help Desk
5.5.1 on a Veritas clustered Windows 2003 server(s) using SQL 2000 database on
Veritas clustered Windows 2003 server(s).
Our environment is midway on a
migration from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 and from Microsoft networking
to Active Directory (AD), single domain, multiple OUs. All account
management will be done using a Quest product, ActiveRoles Server, which is a
slick GUI that can be easily permissioned to users without giving all Helpdesk
techs Domain Admin accounts.
With all account management being performed
using this application, we want to use AD as the "Gold source" or
one-stop-shopping for Remedy account management. An account created in AD
will create a Remedy People Record. Updating office, phone or title
information in AD, updates the Remedy People Record. Disabling an account
in AD, disables the Remedy People Record. You get my drift.
The data elements in our Remedy already
match the AD data elements.
Anyone worked a similar plan that could help
us decide how to have the AD data work the Remedy data? We would love
to not reinvent the wheel while avoiding any pitfalls. And yes, we
still believe in Santa.
