Bing,

I have no way of knowing if "jamahowal" was informed by my source, or
if "jamahowal" is my source. ( A distinct possibility, but I really
doubt it.)

Is the information I was provided a "rumor"? Well that is not how it
was presented to me. Rather I was told that there was a memo
circulated explaining the decision. (No I do not have a copy of it,
and no I have not seen it. I took the person's word for it.) It
certainly is "hear say", but in some countries that is enough to loose
your head over too.

I am not sure that reveling my individual source would "prove"
anything. But you only asked for the contacts position inside of BMC.
Which I think that is fair, and as far as I care to go too. The
information was provided by a "soon to be" ex-employee of BMC. ("Soon
to be" because they are one of the people who will likely be loosing
their job because the the reported decision.) Sure there is a
potential for the information that I was supplied to be
"misinformation" from this person or for it to be some other "counter
intelligence" ploy on the part of BMC itself. However, I believe that
the individual in question has no real reason to tell me that a large
portion of the people that I have worked with over the years at Remedy
are soon to be permanently unavailable. I believe the person to be
trustworthy. True, the person may have an "axe to grind", but what
would be the advantage be for this person to exaggerate what BMC is
doing? "Revenge?" Ok... BUT....

I think the most telling point is this...
No one from BMC has "clarified the discussion" either. (on or off
the list to my knowledge)

I would think that if the stated information was wrong that there
would be a desire to clarify the situation for the user community. I
would be happy to keep the confidence of any one from BMC if they
would like to refute the information that I was told. I will gladly
share "another anonymous story" from "another anonymous inside
source". (But I am sure that the community would be best served by an
official "on list" answer.)

And I still hold to my position on this topic.

"
I will reserve judgment on if this is good or bad for BMC at this
point. But I know it is not good for the USA's economy. ( More people
looking for jobs is very rarely a good thing. )

1. Matt, have you been talking with Deep Throat? If not, perhaps you'd be
willing to share your contact's position within BMC Remedy, so that we can
better determine the validity of the information they've "shared" with the
ARSlist community. Otherwise, you're just spreading rumors disguised as
"insider" information.
