I am dropping the idea of using the .net apis. This quote demonstrates what i believe i need to do: ""I may be wrong but I believe what Axton (I think it was him anyway) was suggesting was a filter on server 6.x that fires when the password changes. That filter fires on the server to do a runmacro. The runmacro would do an export of the user record in question. Than that same command script (server side) would run an arimport to server 5.x. None of this would occur on the client...so as such would not be an issue of a client being opened and such"
So hopefully my last questions are: I know how to write and schedule unix scripts, but could someone provide just some quick example pseudo code of how to use arexport to get record on 6.0 server, then login to 5.0 server, update the user record their, then logoff. Remedy has documentation about the command, but I like working off of examples. Saves a bit of development time. All my devloping has been in Admin tool thus far. Jim Mckenzie: I dont know if you can move a password down level, but i do know that i was able to create an active link on the 6.0 server that pushes a password to user form on 5.0 user server. But this active link only works properly when the user logs into both servers at the same time with the same password. It will not work if the passwords on either server are different. I'm trying to create logic that will use a special login on the 5.0 server that has access to change the password to get around this problem. Angry users who can't login to system is nothing compared to irate team members getting nothing but password reset requests in their email boxes. :D Thank you all for your help:) _______________________________________________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at http://www.wwrug.org
