Each install has a different path so permissions on the workstation play a role. Consider how installs are run for your community - can the upgrade be pushed or will individual installs be required? For us, the community upgraded well in advance of the migration but the next trick was to point current users to a new server from their existing install - workstation permissions play a major role. The user must have write permissions so they can modify shortcut or TASK properties in Notepad to point the application to the new server. As I recall, you can create workflow to not allow users with an incorrect version from attaching - query Remedy SupportSandra Hennigan

-----Original Message-----** Just to followup myself with another question.... Let's say we decide to start upgrading User Tools *before* we start the server upgrade process. Would there be any issues using a 7.x User Tool against a 5.x Server?

It's possible that it might not be feasible to get all of the potentially connecting User Tools upgraded in a timely fashion.
Will upgrading the server have any adverse effects on those clients still connecting with a 5.x User Tool?
