Mimi, You can update the data on a remedy form during import, but you must have the Entry-ID/Request ID (C1) as part of the record your are importing and you need to set your preferences to Update Old Record with New Records Data (Under Duplicate Request Tab). If a record is not found, then one will be created using the C1.
You will need to save the excel sheet as a csv, be careful of the Entry-ID/Request ID column, to ensure you save all the leading '0' (zeros). Excel thinks it knows what you want and will truncate it and make it a number. I would suggest you open the csv with a text editor (Notepad/TextPad) and review the data to ensure it is in the correct format. Hopefully, you have a test/development ARS server to "practice" with. ==Mac On 9/25/06, Fannin, Teresa <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Mimi, What did you try? Did you use arimportcmd? Did you use the Import tool? It is possible. I have done this many times but I was under oracle and UNIX. It should still work though. I assume you will use the Import Tool. You do have to be careful with csv files if you data has passwords or you have leading zeros in the Request ID field. Maybe if you can be more specific with the problem you are having I could help you. Can anybody tell me if that is possible and how? I tried it and it didn't work for me. It is Windows/ SQL Server 2000 Remedy 5.1.2 Thanks, ________________________________ Stay in the know.
