I use excel a lot when I use remedy import, I just tchange
the file to a .txt instead of a .cvs before I open it in excel. It takes
care of that problem becuase when you open a text file in excel, you need to say
what each column is (ie text or number). I just select all as
text.

Subject: Re: keeping the original request ID (Entry ID)
If you already have an existing excel sheet with leading zeros removed: Select the column, right-click and select Format Cells, select Custom and type 000000000000000 in the Type box. Then click OK and export as .csv.
Good luck,

**ARS 5.1.2SQLWindiws serverFranl,Yes I am using Remedy Import tool.I tried that and still doing the same thing. By the way I just checked the csv file converted from Excel file and all preceding 0's has been removed. I am thinking that could be the problem, is there anyway to prevent the 0s from being eliminated?** I am assuming your are using the Import tool.
Goto File->Preferences and click on the Duplicate Request ID tab. Select Replace Old Record with New Record.
