Tom, I may be shooting in the dark here, but I remember that one of the fixes in Patch 16 was to clear up the last of the bugs that allowed login/pw to be displayed in clear text. You might look into whether upgrading your patch to that level might also help with this issue.

Crystal Enterprise 9 on Widows
Mid Tier 6.03 patch 15 running on a Solaris 9 box
We are trying to set up the reporting link between the mid-tier and
Crystal. We are following the documentation, where it has us setting up
Samba on the Unix box. Not a problem, except that the admin stated that
I need to edit the registry to modify the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanworkstation\p
arameters\enableplaintextpassword to 1.
We really don't want to send passwords in clear text. One of my NT
admins suggested using Unix Services for Windows to connect to the
directory on the Unix box.
Has anyone had any experience in this? If you have used Samba, but did
not have to modify this key, can you let me know what you did.
I think our issue is that we already had Samba set up for another
process, but set up for user authentication, not machine authentication.
Can some shed some light on how they might have done this?
Thanks
