Also worth noting is the following from the Pink Elephant web site:

http://www.pinkelephant.com/en-US/PinkVerify/CompatibilityCompliance.htm

Compatibility vs. Compliance?

Important To Note
PinkVerify(tm) does not measure ITIL compliance. ITIL is not a standard, but
rather a set of best practices that should be adapted to address the specific
needs of an organization; therefore, PinkVerify(tm) assesses a tool's
compatibility with the ITIL framework. Please refer to chapter two of the
itSMF's An Introductory Overview Of ITILĀ®
<http://www.itsmfusa.org/mc/page.do?sitePageId=2993> for further explanation
of compatibility vs. compliance.

'ITIL compliant' or 'ITIL compliance' are not appropriate phrases to use in
conjunction with PinkVerify(tm) and certified software vendors are prohibited
from using them in any marketing literature, as this violates the terms set out
in the PinkVerify(tm) logo guidelines and the license agreement.

Please contact Pink Elephant at 1-888-273-7465 for any questions regarding
PinkVerify(tm), including inquiries about logo usage and reporting misuse of
the PinkVerify(tm) logos.

Subject: Re: CMDB Classes

Everyone,

I went to a BMC Executive Briefing a couple weeks ago which also included
presentations by Doug Mueller on CMDB 2.0 and ITSM 7 and they stressed that
their CMDB was not 'ITIL certified' but rather 'ITIL aligned' and that
apparently no product could get 'ITIL certified' as that kind of
certification does not exist.

I found this in the OGC's FAQs - http://www.itil.co.uk/faqs.htm#97

"9.7 I have heard terms such as 'ITIL compliant' used. Can tools and
processes be ITIL certified, and does OGC itself provide 'assessment'
services?

Organisations claiming to be 'ITIL compliant' are quite common. Many have
used the PinkElephant 'Pink Verify' service. This 'Pink Verify' service
belongs to PinkElephant; it has nothing to do with OGC, and is not endorsed
or approved by OGC. OGC is the owner of ITIL, and does not at this time
offer any test or certificate of ITIL compliance, conformance, alignment or
compatibility. However, ITIL is aligned with BS15000 and there is a BS15000
certification scheme to which interested parties are referred."

Rgds,
