Jarl, XML may contain a high payload, but it's hardly inefficient compared to DSO. It's entirely transparent and should at least be considered - of course, using Remedy's webservices is akin to playing with fire, however, our XML Gateway will do the job very well.
Given large enterprise systems use XML for high volumes of data transport, I see no reason why the ARS can not use the same (reliable, proven and trusted) techniques.
