Darshana, Once you have created a field, it exists as a column of that type in your underlying database. You can't change the type once it is created. What you can do, however, is copy the Database ID, e.g. 240000801, for the field, delete the field, then save the form.
After the form has saved with the field deleted, create a new field with the type you want, paste the old Database ID into the new field's Database ID, and save the form again. This procedure will preserve any workflow you have depending on that field, but you will have to go back and check all your workflow, because you can sometimes end up with strange results when changing field types.
