You have a hidden radio field that contains the entries red, green , yellow ... whatever colors you want.
In the admin tool you associate the colors with the radio field you just created. Form->CurrentView->Properties ... Results List Color Tab Then you generate workflow to set the colors to whatever you want based on conditions ... For example: Build an escalation that says if it is 15 mins before deadline ... set the radio button to red ... that should cause the color to change to red.
