Yes and No, at least from my point of view. And that is exactly why I am floating the idea, I accept it might not be a good one :)
My train of thought... AR System is the Community for discussions around the AR platform. These typically are technical issues/questions/ideas about how to do something, why am I getting this error, etc. Often the people are working in an ITSM environment (I don't have anything again ITSM I swear). My thought is not a new Community (like BMC Remedy AR System, BMC Remedy ITSM, Asset Management) but a group like the local user groups (India BMC Remedy User Group, San Diego Remedy User Group, UK BMC User Group). I am thinking along the line of "special interest" groups such as BMC Remedy 9.0 Beta Program, Off Topic, CLM for SAP / Design Group, BMC Control-M Application Hub. To your point though, and a conversation some of us heavy Communities users have had with BMC, is Remedy already too fragmented in the Communities. Most of us believe it is. So then why am I trying to fragment more? Good question. Ultimately what I am looking to do is get the people that do a lot of custom development (and dare I say enjoy it) talking again. At one time the ARSlist was full of these discussions. We also had very active local User Groups that met in person. I remember in the very early 2000's in SDRUG meetings we shared a ton of idea and what we were building. When ITSM became the more prevalent app organizations were using most of these discussions and interactions disappeared. They were replaced with "how do I do x with CTM:People" and "my RE logs show error XYZ and my merge job fails" and "how can I get the change request to move forward after closing the last PiP task" (ok that one was mine <https://communities.bmc.com/people/JMiller/blog/2014/05/31/jasons-quick-tip--change-management-make-the-crq-move-after-the-last-pip-task> ). There is nothing wrong with these discussion but this is mostly noise for a custom developer that doesn't work with ITSM. In talking with others over the last say 5 or so years it has been mentioned that there so much ITSM talk and the custom people just lurk in the shadows. So basically the Idea I submitted to the Communities is shining a light, now we just wait and see if people jump into the light. If not, I the Idea doesn't offer any value (or enough value). Maybe the AR System Community is exactly the right place for us shadowy custom developers to interact? In the end if we start interacting again then I could careless where.
