We had this issue in production for about a year, v 7.5 and 7.6.04. We were never able to find a loop. We spend a lot of time analyzing logs, myself and BMC Support. The best guess was it was multiple intensive workflow processes being triggered at the same time. There was no consistent pattern of when it happened. There is a KB article that documents how to increase the stack a little bit. It finally went away when we upgraded to 8.1.
