I'm working within Smart IT 1.1 and from what I've gathered just working with BMC Support on a bunch of issues, there is a CAI social plugin (in 1.0 & 1.1; in 1.2 BMC created a new social plugin that doesn't use CAI) that sends the work infos and other social aspects to get created in the social database in MongoDB.
If anyone else knows more about it, or if I mis-spoke, feel free to correct me. Like I said, I'm learning the backend stuff just from working with BMC Support.
