Dave,

Well, the AR System has always worked under the principle of runs on xxx OR
LATER so it should be possible to run things on current versions of Solaris.

However, if you want to be specific, I have a complete set of documentation for
the 4.5 release if you need it. Now, I did not find any data in it about the
specific versions of external products. But, I was able to isolate the release
date of 4.5 to May 2000.

This allowed me to follow a few avenues:

First, I decided to look to see what versions of Solaris were released in May
of 2000. We support the current and sometimes a version or two back from
current on the release at release time as tested systems. So, I found the
following page

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solaris_(operating_system)

That tells me that it is Solaris 8 that was the released version of Solaris at
the time.

Second, I wanted to take a look at the web page that shows compatibility using
the “way back machine”. By the way, this is a REALLY COOL way to look at a
particular web address over time. Just enter the URL, it will show you all
snapshots over time take of that page and you can then select and go to that
page. And, the links on the page work and will cross link you to other things
that were linked at that time (and the proper versions).

http://archive.org/web/web.php

I entered the web page the docs referenced to find web pages that are archived.
The link is the following (Note: If I didn’t know this page, I could have
entered www.remedy.com<http://www.remedy.com> and then navigated from there….

http://www.remedy.com/solutions/compatibility/

This showed pages archived in 2000 through about 2004. I selected 2000 and
then from the archives taken in that year, selected the June 20th archive.
That took me to

https://web.archive.org/web/20000818052405/http://www.remedy.com:80/solutions/compatibility/<https://web.archive.org/web/20000818052405/http:/www.remedy.com:80/solutions/compatibility/>

which is the compatibility matrix page for Remedy for June 2000. I selected
the 4.5 link for the AR System which took me here

https://web.archive.org/web/20001212201100/http://www.remedy.com:80/solutions/compatibility/ars4.5.htm<https://web.archive.org/web/20001212201100/http:/www.remedy.com:80/solutions/compatibility/ars4.5.htm>

That then gave me the details of the supported OSes and DBs and such for 4.5.

So, the answers are that the officially tested and supported releases for 4.5
were Solaris 2.6, 7, and 8. (and of course, or later)

Hopefully, this gives you the answer you need AND gives you and everyone else
some new tools for finding this type of information.

And, this emphasizes – ONCE ON THE WEB, ALWAYS ON THE WEB!!!!

Subject: Remedy History Question

Morning all,
Hopefully a simple question for someone here - what versions of Solaris were
Remedy 4.5 supported on?
We have an old instance that refuses to go away, attempts at migrating the data
to another platform often seem to get nowhere (people actually admit to liking
the Remedy system!). Latest idea from some bright spark is to migrate the
existing system to a virtualised environment ... Personally believe that moving
an unsupported application on an unsupported platform to a platform/application
combination that was never supported is possibly a bigger business risk than
just keeping on the currently unsupported combination.
Regards
