Ben, I'm not sure how exactly that can happen because the 'name', assuming we are talking about the DB name of the field is used in the View creation, and you obviously can't have two columns with the same name in the DB view, so you can't do it in Dev Studio either...I would be curious to see a def of the form in question....this hasn't been possible since I started using remedy in v 3.2....not sure how they got it done.
