Create a new form that will hold the historical data and then do an import of the old tickets. I am in the process of upgrading a client from 5.5 ITSM and we have created a new install of 7 and transferring/creating the customizations. Also in reviewing new capabilities we have found some of their customizations are now included. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [email protected] Sent: Tue, 16 Jan 2007 12:25 PM Subject: Helpdesk 4.0.3 --->>> 7.x
We're currently running ARS 6.3 and Helpdesk 4.03. I'm looking at upgrading to version 7 for both ARS and Helpdesk and I've been in discussion with a consulting firm to do it. To make a long story short they are saying that BMC recommends we bring up a new system and start using it fresh. Keep the old system up for history, and until all tickets are closed on that system. We have over 180K tickets and I don't think this will fly well at my company. We are planning to bring up a new system, and then migrate, or even re-write, customizations and workflow. I realize that the data structures have changed A LOT, but they're saying it will take 3-6 months to bring the data over from the old system to the new one. That seems like a long time to me. Without having detailed information, anyone have any opinions or ideas?
