Yep..that sounds familiar. Sometime, I imagine when the server went
down for backups the email engine just started working on that server.
I have yet to check with our sys admins, but it appears we may be
experiencing something similar.
Thanks

Hi Kyle -
Slightly different platform here (6.0.1 patch 1351, Solaris 9, Oracle
9iR2), not sure if it's the same problem - our server would quit
polling for mail, not sure if it affected outgoing mail - seems like
the we had to manually kill the email process to fix things (long time
back, details are fuzzy). Anyway, our sys admin set up something to
kill the email process every 15 minutes & let armonitor restart it,
and we've been working with that for a long time now -
In case of use -

Everything looks good in the authentication department. I would like
to blame it on the firewall but I don't think that is the issue, the
email engine and ars are on the same physical server, and we can
communicate through the specified ports. Another server is the exact
same config but different patch and it works fine. Anyone had any
issue with getting the email engine stopped and started on solaris?
It seems like every now and then it wants to hang up or not shutdown
correctly.
