This is CMDB 2.01 p1.
I think I found the issue - it looks like the qualification group I was
using was restricting the Child CIs that were related to the instance that I
wanted to work with.

Hi Mike,
Which version of CMDB are you using?
In some older versions I've seen situations where A CI involed in a
relationship has
been deleted, but the Relationship Instance itself still exists....this
Relationship
record is effectivley pointing to a non-existent CI, hence Recon complains
that it
can't find something...
You can write some SQL to verify if you have any Relationship instances
which have
been "orphaned". This would be the first step of analysing why Recon might
be
throwing this error. I can give you some suggestions on how to do this, but
the
statements would have be a little different for different versions of CMDB.
