Thanks for your response.  Company and site are both Active Directory
attributes.  They both can be pulled from AD.

 

By importing all the AD data, the following bad things happen:

 

-          Remedy data and AD data "disagree" any time an update is made
in one or the other in between synchronizations.

-          The synchronization process itself is convoluted and
resource-intensive.

-          Data is duplicated in multiple data systems.

 

In my opinion, duplicating data from an authoritative data source is
just poor design.

ITSM 7 has taken the People form to a new level. Although the
application permissions and licensing information are still held on the
User record the configuration is from the people form. You can add a
person to a group from the prople form as well. The Company and Site are
required fields on Incident and Change and are also held on the people
form. As you can see there is a lot that is now on CTM:People that
workflow uses.
