We've been having the same weird issue.  It just fixed itself
eventually...
 
Here is the email from me and the response from Axton (very good hints)
that may help you...
 
We're on Windows 2003 MidTier 7.0.1 using Tomcat.

Check that you are on the same patch level and check that the files in
the deployed application are the same (checksum is best method). Make
sure your mid-tier settings are the same. Flush the mid-tier cache, and
also clear your browser cache, then retry.

There are ttl values for all js, css, image, etc when using the
mid-tier; when you patch, redeploy, etc., the cached version can become
inconsistent with those files the server serves, and cause strange
errors like this. Clearing the browser cache will ensure you download
the version of those files available on the server.

I have one user getting the following error when clicking on a link on
the midtier to open a window.....does anyone know what this could be ? 

Microsoft IE caught exception : undefined is null or not an object.
