We had a really nasty situation where the server would usually crash when we opened a particular form, but sometimes it wouldn't.
Remedy Support sent us a debug server, from which we got a core dump, which they analyzed and discovered that we had a corrupted active link. We deleted the link and rebuilt it from scratch and since then we have had no server crashes. We would NEVER have been able to figure this out ourselves. I suggest calling Support and asking them about debug servers.
