It depends on what you plan to do. Since my company is a big Microsoft shop, it makes sense to know VB.NET here, but when I've worked at other places that use Unix and Oracle, you have more possibilities. Perl is a good option in those cases because ARSPerl makes it easy to interact with Remedy. So all of it depends on what project you have in front of you and what functionality Remedy doesn't have that a traditional programming language can give you.
