Hey, I've gotten this same error before. It turned out the field did not have Public permission on it.
So, what I did to make sure there was no issue, was on all fields where users would need to write to, I had to have three things done: Checkmark beside Allow any User to Submit Public Permission Group Explicit MODIFY permission group. In my situation, the users has accounts in Remedy, they were just read-only accounts, so for some reason, I had to grant public access to the field. I had just their group having access, but they were still unable to submit data in these fields until I granted Public. It didn't make sense to me, since I had 'allow any user to submit' marked, and their group had MODIFY access to the fields, but I granted public access and viola... it worked.
