We are running Solaris 10 on Oracle 10G R2 with ARsystem 7.0.1 and are
getting the following error message:

Failure during SQL operation to the database ORA-04031: unable to
allocate 52512 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","unknown
object","PCursor","kkslcr:unsafepos")

Oracle support states that Remedy doesn't used bind variables on all of
it's sql and that causes fragmentation in the shared pool which leads to
ora-4031.

Remedy states they can't used bind variables due to it's flexible
design.

Has anyone else run into these errors and what do you typically do to
resolve it? Our dbas have allocated more memory to the shared pool but
say this will not ultimately resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Melanie
