We have a custom built app for our help desk.  We have a table like what
Mike White described.  What happens is folks enter a word or phrase in a
description field and trigger an Active Link by pressing the enter key.
The workflow retrieves matching records from a lookup description field
in the table.  After picking what looks right, the Active Link sets our
Category, SubCategory, and Topic fields.  If appropriate the workflow
sets the Priority, Call Type, Support Group, our Details fields with
questions if the record contains questions and fills in the Resolution
if it is a standard resolution.

Hello List,

 

I have been given a task to automate the problem description and
resolution field so that once the category is selected, these fields
should come up with selection choices. My dilemma is, these fields right
now is a text field. How can I convert this into a selection field
without changing the data that is already in the database. Should I be
using active links but how can I have the text field show up all the
choices? Please advise. Thanks in advance.
