I am doing this extensively. It does involve a lot more coding, but when it's done, it's awesome. In my experience, the Remedy GUI methods of SUBMIT/MODIFY/SEARCH are somewhat foreign to people who come from the world of more "traditional" Windows and web apps.
There are certain things you have to do through the native form, of course--complex advanced searches and importing data through the Import tool. But I've found my users much prefer using display-only forms for the day-to-day activities of submitting and modifying records. -----Original Message----- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Durrant, Michael M. - ITSD Sent: Thursday, November 08, 2007 12:41 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Using regular forms for data storage ONLY? ** I'm toying with the idea of using regular forms for data storage only and using display forms for all user interactions. while I realize this entails more "coding", I think I would have a greater deal of control over behavior of the user interface. Has anyone tried this already? Am I crazy for even thinking about it?
