As long as it worked for you ... FYI: I think the 536870912 was your VUI ID, that's why it complained it was a duplicate. In one of my attachment fields the display-instance in the def is something like:
536870912\...data...\AttachmentName\...data...\540000538\...data... The 536870912 is the View's VUI ID. The 540000538 is the Attachment Pool field ID. I exported the form and found a reference to "536870912" in the attachment field def. So I created an Attachment Pool with that field id. The attachment fields automatically appeared in the attachment list and I deleted them. When I tried to save the form it said that "536870912" was a duplicate ID, so I gave the pool a new id, saved the form, then reopened it and deleted the pool. Now the orphaned fields have gone on to their reward. BTW, what I said in reply to Christie was all wrong. I thot I had saved the form, but I didn't. When you enter the name of an existing attachment field and try to save, it complains about a duplicate name. So you can't add existing attachment field to a new pool, at least as far a I can see. And yes, deleting an attachment field from the attachment list does delete the field itself.
