The short answer was: 6.3 is not supported in a zoned environment (a compatibility matrix update would be nice...) The long answer is that the problem appears to be with the Port Mapper. If we specify a fixed TCP port, clients can connect; no RPC error. So now we just have to get the ARTCPPORT env variable into everyone's profile...
