John,

I know that you are not in a position to make these wishs come true.
However, I have given the idea a good deal of thought and I think I
have decided on my "world peace" wish for ARS for this year...

) Make all of the marketing "spinning and flaming" actually be true
and accurate.

However I expect that by v9 I still will not be able to, with a
straight face, claim _all_ of the features/functions/marketing
promises of "BMC Remedy".

However if I were to be more practical then I would "wish" for.....

The end of per user licensing for ARS. ( BMC can keep per user
licensing for their applications. I just want the base ARS user
license to be "no extra charge".)

( Yes, I understand that _might_ mean that the cost of the base server
and especially the applications base cost to go up due to that change.
However I think the ability to build your own apps for any part of
your business without concern for per user costs would go a long way
to try to "combat" other "free" [or nearly free] development
environments that are really maturing into the ARS application rapid
prototyping space. Things like Eclipse with JSF, Hibernate, Spring, or
even the "evil empire's" answer of M$ .Net, etc... And given that at
this point (v7.1) there is no technical changes needed to implement
this "change", I would think it very possible to do with a management
decision. ARS should be the carrot that provides a platform to sell
all of the other "BMC integrations" that make running your business
easier. Give away the foundation so that you can get them to buy the
rest of the farm with the promise of "run setup.exe and your buisness
will be better".)

However, I fully expect BMC to not see how they need to compete
against such "base" technologies too. So I think both of my wishes
likely rank up there with the old "A snow ball's chance..." phrase.

However, tis the season of hope. So I share my hope and dream with the
expectation that miracles can happen. ( I am just not holding my
breath for this miracle.)

Merry Christmas to all...
