We used ARSperl to perform the changes systematically. With ITSM 5.6, there were basically 3 different bg images, we made replacements, then pass a file that contained the form/view/image to use as the replacement. The one thing we had to be careful about was making sure that our image aligned with the buttons and other text in the banner so that manual changes were not required.
