That's because IE limit's the size of the entire HTTP header to about 4k
(and cookies are part of that)

I believe on the Web a Global field is stored as a cookie so you
have to deal with the limitations of cookies by the browser.

        Subject: MidTier and Global Fields

I am getting the following error message on MT 7.0.1 p7 and MT
6.3p20 when a form opens: "The current global field values are too large
to be stored (ARERR 9360)"

On the form there are several global fields and they are all
size 0. I have work flow that walks a table and builds a very large
string of values and sets the end value into a global field. I have
narrowed it down to a size limitation of 1059 characters. If there are
more than that I get the error.

This does not happen on the 6.3p20 User Tool.

        Frank
