The AR Web Report viewer is 100% required for Remedy to show reports via the web.
To get CR 10 to work with AR 7.x you have to (generally speaking): 1.) Create a shared drive on the AR Server 2.) Make sure it is network shareable from the CR box 3.) Install ARWebReportViewer on the CR box - make sure the Tomcat engine is working before you do this 4.) Configure the Mid-tier to connect to the CR box. 5.) Test, etc. -----Original Message----- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sokol, Brian Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2008 11:00 AM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: Integrating Crystal Enterprise 10 and MidTier Hi William, Yea I did not think the url method would work but it was not my choice. I am now testing it using the method BMC recommends. Now when I launch the AL to run the report I am prompted for an ID/password for Crystal. After giving credentials I get this error message: Error encountered by Crystal Page Server ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------- The error message returned is: File POReport.rpt not found. [On Cache/Page Server: Crystalserver.pageserver] ARS and Mid Tier are both version 7.1 on Windows 2003 servers. The Crystal server is Crystal Enterprise 10. Here is what I have done to get this to work. If someone sees what I am doing wrong please let me know. 1) Created a report in Crystal Designer. 2) Saved the report in the Reports folder on my Mid Tier Server. Shared this folder on the Mid Tier. 3) Created a virtual directory on the Crystal Server called arreports that points to the report folder on my Mid Tier. 4) Updated the Mid Tier config Report Settings to: Crystal Engine to Crystal 10 Enterprise Reporting Working Directory to the shared reports folder on my Mid Tier Crystal Enterprise 10 Location to http://CrystalServerName 5) Changed the run command in the Report Type form to point to the Crystal Server I do not have the ArWeb Report Viewer installed as I have been told that it is not needed for Crystal 10. Please does anyone have any ideas? You might be able to metaphorically duct tape/band aid it together but I doubt it would be pretty. When you posted previously you left out some technical details. What is the OS version of AR Server box? And to double check, what is the OS of the mid-tier box? Also, what specific version of AR Server/mid-tier are you on? So far it has not worked. There are two pieces of info that have to be included in the url that are not working - the user ID/password on the Crystal server and an instance ID field on my Remedy form. Both are being ignored. Here is the url we are trying to call: <a href="http://crystalserver/crystal/enterprise/admin/en/viewrpt.cwr?id=33 71486&init=actx:connect&PROMPT0=$Instance ID$+&apsuser=crystalID&apspassword=crystalPassword&apsauthtype=secEnterp rise">Print Report</a> Has anyone launched a Crystal report this way? When I launch this url it still prompts me for the Instance ID, Crystal ID and password. It can be installed separately from the mid-tier and as I understand it, is designed normally to be installed on the server with Crystal on it. In your case I think you would like to connect the mid-tier directly to Crystal. I haven't tried this scenario with the current version of the mid-tier though I have done it with earlier versions of the mid-tier and Crystal (pre the ar webreport viewer option). I will try it out for you and let you know how successful I am. As I mentioned it may help resolve an issue I am having with access to the crystal report server via a proxy server. I'll give you an update in the next 24 hours if you are interested. I want to change as little as possible on the Crystal server and keep the reports on the Mid Tier server (if possible). In my case I have installed the report viewer on the crystal server therefore no virtual directory is needed. The crystal server is remote from the mid-tier and the remedy server but there is the ARWebReport Viewer on it (perhaps not remote in the sense of the word the guide means). I will try setting things up the way you mentioned and get back to you if you like. The virtual directory method may solve some issues that I'm having with users that go through a proxy server. The mid-tier guide is a little confusing in the way it tries to cover all the different options for setting up Crystal Enterprise Server and mid-tier combinations. The bottom line is that the mid-tier needs to put report files on the file system of the crystal server. It can do this by being local or via a virtual directory. The mid-tier on crystal doesn't have to be the same mid-tier as your main mid-tier it can be the stripped down report only version that talks to the main mid-tier. Does this make more sense? Sorry about confusing you earlier. Page 177 of the Mid Tier Admin guide says you need to create a virtual directory. Also support sent me a video last night and in it they create a virtual directory. I just want to know exactly what the Crystal Admin needs to do so I do not have to go back to them. Pretty much everything you need to know is in the mid tier installation guide. On the BO box you need to have in addition to Crystal Report Server or BO Enterprise & IIS 1) Remedy User with the odbc driver and a matching system data source 2) Java runtime 3) The ARWebReportViewer . This is an option in the mid-tier install and can also install tomcat automatically. 4) Run the mid tier config on both your mid tier and your ARwebreport Viewer server. Follow the instructions on configuring them. Your mid-tier must point to your BO server for reports and your ARWebreport config must have the details on your BO configuration. I created a folder within Enterprise for the reports to be stored. This location is configured here. The installation above will demand a reboot so let your BO admin know that. I had to copy some files that we had installed on D drive to the C drive as the AR WebReport viewer seemed to look for them on C and I couldn't find anywhere to configure this. I have also found that the alias as defined within your crystal reports must reflect the Remedy form name with special characters replaced with underscores. Good luck with it. If you have any specific questions I may be able to help. There is a Crystal Enterprise 10 Server on another physical server. I have read through the Mid Tier documentation and searched the support site but still not clear what I need to do to integrate the two of them. The admin on the Crystal Server is not the easiest person to work with so I want to be clear what I ask him to do. We are using IIS on both servers. I believe that a virtual directory needs to point to a report share. Is the report share on my Mid Tier and the virtual directory on the Crystal IIS server? What else needs to be done? Is there a clear document that outlines what I have to do?
