We ran into a similar problem. I don't recall the precise resolution, but it
involved Tomcat settings. IIS also should not have the virtual directory
because that's something Tomcat should handle and may cause problems for you.

To see if it's installed correctly in Tomcat, go to
http://remedyserver:8080/manager/html and log in with whatever credentials you
have (I think it's tomcat for both username and password by default, but if not
you can edit the password file.) You should see RKM listed there as an
application. If it's not, find the .war file (I think it's rkm.war and in the
directory you installed RKM to) and install it via that web interface. If it
is showing up, try http://remedyserver:8080/rkm and see if it comes up . If it
does, then the problem is with IIS. Remove the virtual directory and make sure
Jakarta is set up correctly to redirect you from IIS to Tomcat via
http://remedyserver/rkm . You may want to open a ticket with BMC Support
because when I tried to install RKM, I ran into multiple issues, and BMC had to
send me a "custom" .war file and help with a few other things. In my
experience, you can't just install RKM out of the box according to their
directions and expect it to work correctly.

If you need any more help, again, I'd suggest opening a ticket but also post
your questions here too.

Thanks,

Shawn Pierson

Subject: Installing Knowledge Management

**
Hi all - I am in the process of building 2 brand new 7.x servers, a dev & QA
environments.

On Dev I have installed: Window 2003, IIS. Java 1.6.0_07, Active Perl 5.10.0 b
1003, ARS 7.1 p 4 (server, admin, user, approval). Then I installed KM 7.2
(which installed Tomcat 5.5 & HummingBird 5.4).

But when I go to http:\\<server>\rkm I get 404 (page cannot be found).

I looked on the list but they didn't cover this and I looked at the install doc
and everything they say should be done has been done.

I have added to my IIS a virtual directory called rkm and it points to the
correct folder. Is this what I should have done? I still have to build my QA
environment and want to do it correctly.

Thanks!!!
