It will be an issue with any binary that attempts to link to anything on your vm; which is going to include everything from Remedy. If you want to go with a unix type OS, you are going to have to go the linux route in vmware. Qemu is the only vm I know of that allows architecture emulation, but it's not for the light hearted. Most of the vm software out there is x86 virtualization.
