They might be. The IPv6 Wiki page has a good description of the notation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv6 IPv6 addresses are normally written as eight groups of four hexadecimal <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexadecimal> digits, where each group is separated by a colon (:). For example, 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334
One or any number of consecutive groups of 0 value may be replaced with two colons (::): 2001:db8:85a3::8a2e:370:7334 AR System does not yet recognize IPv6 addresses and would not properly enable communication between an IPv6 client and the AR System server. Perhaps the log is improperly adding the "-" to the addresses since the AR System RPC stack doesn't understand IPv6. Just a guess... Is she perhaps running her client on a dual stack system that is sending out both IPv4 and IPv6 packets? The US government mandate to use IPv6 on the backbone should not be transmitting IPv6 packets into an IPv4 network, but it could depend on the configuration of that particular network or the network from which the client is sending. -David J. I look up in the arerror.log file, it shows her old and new ip address. I was going to do an NSLookup on the names, and then check a program I have access to that shows me who last logged into that computer to see what is going on. However, the IP addresses in the logs are very weird. At first, they look to be in hex, but then I convert, and get an impossibly large number. They consist of four sets of colon-delimited hex strings. Each of the second sets has a - at the front of it. Does anyone have any guidance on this? Are they IPV6 ips?
