I just wanted to add that it IS possible to modify the canned reports for ITSM if you have the Crystal client, you can change the design of the report or add new ones. It is also possible to create new reports with the Report interface. Yes, it is clunky and you don't get much more than a report definition in the standard report output format - but it does allow the generation of those reports directly from a piece of workflow.

That gives you a set of canned reports on top of Business Objects. The canned reports there are also a bit lame, but then you have the ability to modify them and create new ones using Business Objects, which is something that you can’t really do with the Crystal reports that just come with ITSM.
