Gary,

Is the database scheduled to be migrated from one server platform to another as
well???

If NOT, I do not see why you need to 'migrate' things in the very strict sense
of the word migrate.. If the database is scheduled to stay where is, all you
need to do is install the new ARS instance on the new platform and just point
to that database and select the 'Share' (s) option when prompted to
upgrade, override, etc... This assuming you are using ARS and a inhouse system
built on the ARS..

Even if you are really indeed migrating the database, from HP to AIX, let the
DBA's worry about that. All you need is your new connect strings SID's and you
should be all set to share the database..

That being said the process might be a little more involved if you are using
OTB apps along with maybe inhouse ARS based systems.. you will need to make
sure the config data that stores paths etc to application installs etc are
consistent and you will need to install supporting applications like AIE, SLM,
etc if you are using those..

A little more information on what you have on your current system might help us
to better advise you on the do's and don'ts

Cheers

Joe

Subject: Upgrade server and migrate data

**
We are moving our Remedy 6.3 environment from HPUX v11.1  to  IBM AIX v6.1.  We
need to upgrade the ARServer to 7.1 and migrate our existing app and data over
to AIX.......can anyone guess or tell me about how long this would take to
accomplish ? We are not upgrading the client side at this time.  We are also
staying on Oracle 10.g

Thank you,

Gary Roach
