I just wrote an escalation to delete sent email messages from "AR System Email
Messages". I was not aware of the archiving feature. Could someone point me to
documentation I should read about archiving email messages as well as tickets?

Hi Steve,

The first thing is the criteria. I typically use something like 'Status' =
"Closed" AND 'Modified Date' < ($TIMESTAMP$ - (60*60*24*365)

If you are talking about a really large amount of tickets, then I would start
small. As an example I just started archiving a form that has 4 million
records, so I have the criteria set for 1765 days. I will reduce that to 365
over the next month or so. I also try to keep the archiving to half an hour. No
rule on that, just a personal thing.

Remember you can only have one form archiving at a time. I think if one is
running when another is supposed to start, the second does not run, so look at
how long it takes to run and when other arching are supposed to start.
ARUtilities has a record count function by checking the count you can see if it
is still running. Finally, you can only run archiving on the same form once an
hour.

Good Luck

Mark (ARS 6.3 patch 20)

Subject: Archiving tickets

**
I need to start archiving old tickets from my HPD:HelpDesk form. I've used the
built in archive for the ar system email messages form which works well but I
find it hard to search for old tickets because how it bunches the fields
together.

So I'm wondering if I should use it for my HPD:HelpDesk form but would like
some tips or maybe alternatives to using the built in archive feature?

Thanks
Steve
