Yes, that's what I noticed, in the compatibility matrix while troubleshooting
the problem we were getting, which led me to the solution of un-installing the
10gR1 client and installing the recommended client in the matrix. Prior to that
we had thought that since its only a sub release difference it should have
worked and even after having a problem didn't immediately suspect that.

Note that the 10gR2 client is specifically called out in the compatibility
matrix for AR System 7.5.00...

Also, as previously mentioned, Oracle 11g isn't supported on AR System 7.1.00,
although it is on AR System 7.5.00.  It may work, but you'll be running in an
unconfirmed environment.

Thats a good idea.. and I would suggest 10gR2 client especially if you have an
intent to upgrade your AR Server to 7.5 anytime too soon.

I learnt the hard way that the 10gR1 client is no good for 7.5 (at least on
windows) as it appears that it doesn't find some files that may be required, as
the installer for 7.5 complains of permissions to the Oracle client libraries -
we were installing at Admins so it could only mean those libraries were missing
altogether and get installed with 10gR2.
