Solaris 10, Sybase 12.5.3, upgrade from 5.1.2 to 7.1.0 patch 7.
ar_install errors out and complains that the login, password, or
database are wrong. I know there have been issues in the past with a
non-default password for ARAdmin, so the password Sybase is the default.
I verified the login independently in Sybase SQL Advantage, and I ran
ar_install several times, being careful not to make a typo. Also the
5.1.2 Admin tool was able to change the database with that login prior
to the upgrade. I did notice that the script seems to issue a ';'
terminator for its Sybase sql, a syntax error in Sybase, but I couldn't
find all the places where that error would affect the login, or maybe it
is another issue.
I have opened a case with BMC but will probably not hear back before
Monday.
Here is the console output.
Cannot login to the database as ARAdmin with the given password.
You can either correct the username and password or, if you have DBA
access, create a new database.
1) Enter a different Username/Password/Database name
[ARAdmin/AR#Admin#/ARSystem - verified independently. Jim O'H.]
2) Create a new database for this user
3) Quit this installation
Select the operation do you want to perform [1, 2 or 3]: [1]
Thanks!
