Ran into the same thing. I found this in an old email from BMC: The problem you encountered is on for which defect SW00276692 was previously opened for. The defect has not been fixed yet.
The following is the workaround we have provided to other customers and you may want to use for a future install. Line number 6894 reads as follows: echo "select name from master.dbo.syslogins where dbname='$DATABASE_NAME';" > /tmp/sybsql.in$$ Update it to the following: echo "select name from master.dbo.syslogins where dbname='$DATABASE_NAME' and name='$USER_NAME';" > /tmp/sybsql.in$$ Hope that helps.
